VIDEO INSTALLATION
50 YEARS OF GLORY.
A DISTORSION OF OPERA
11/2013. BAYERISCHE STAATSOPER.
München.
Video Installation contracted by the Bayerische Staatsoper for the 50th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Opera House of Munich. The work concentrates in a fals documentary where the main objective is to lie the public with artistic inputs.
CONCEPT /
The main concept for this performance is the distortion of reality and the “no-explanation” of the history of the opera. In a documentary format, the viewers will watch a film of 7 to 10 minutes long. There will exist a direct interaction between narrator and the viewer.
OBJECTIVE /
Arouse the viewer's feelings and make him think that there is another point of view from historic images. Lie to the viewer and make him ask if what he has seen is true (based on reality) or everything is false. Enhance the vulnerability of the viewer.
SYNOPSIS /
The royal loge will be converted into a small cinema. To make a more impressive experience for the viewer, the room will be conformed by two layers of tulle strategically situated to create a 3D perspective vision without the use of goggles. An individual sound system will be set up for more intimacy and self-conscience. 9 people will enter the loge, and sit down. The film exposed will have a duration of 7 to 10 minutes and will be shown every 15 minutes.
